Congratulations! I almost picked up a 3D set a few months back.  But I just couldn't get myself to pull the trigger yet.  I hope it lives up to your expectations.

I love my 42" Panasonic 3D Plasma. The 3D effects are amazing. Avatar looks incredible. I saw it in iMax 3D in the theater and it looks just as good, if not better at home in 3D .

For those who have tried this, I'm curious about the picture quality.  One of the things that drives me crazy about 3-D is the way the image tends to go out of register on the edges.  I constantly feel like I'm watching a blurry image.  Is this any better in the home environment?  It's gotten to the point where I won't even bother paying the 3-D tax in theaters.  I feel like I'm getting a far superior image in the standard projections.

The one I got is an LED/LCD 120MHz. The technology is very new and most people think that the 1080p is cut in half 540p for each eye, not so anymore. The glasses are not the shuttered variety, but are the exact same ones you get at the movie theatre, Cinema 3D and are very light weight and fit over your prescription lenses. They only cost $25 USD for 2 pair. I kept the ones I got when I saw Avatar and they are the exact same. 4 pair of glasses came with the TV and as part of my deal I got 4 more, that makes 8 plus the 2 from Avatar.

The picture is incredible and there are no double images anywhere. This particular set will even turn 2D into 3D. Before you laugh, it's true. It will create an image in realtime that uses up to 20 levels of depth. On a scale from 1 to 10, 10 being actual 3D discs, it's about a 4 and more than worth it to watch. Sporting events are very nice. To make sure you get the very best, you need to buy the best HDMI cables on the market, the HDMI 1.4 variety and a very good power strip. If you're interested, I bought the 8' $100 Monster cables. I already had the $130 Monster power strip.

Also, I purchased the 4 year extended warranty which can be extended up to 9 years and the calibration package. On July 1, a technician is going to come to the house and calibrate the TV with and I quote: "$16,000 worth of equipment and calibrate everything". You need at least 100 hours of use before this is done.

I'm also tired of having 4 or 5 remotes, so I got a Harmony 700 which is supposed to allow me to control all except the PS3. They do have a $60 option you can purchase on top of the $150 cost of the remote to control the PS3. I couldn't convince myself that was worth it, so I'll have to use 2 remotes.

Just as a side note, I got $120 worth of 3D movies with the purchase.

I've experienced cross-talk, or ghosting, in iMax theaters but to tell you the truth, I've rarely experienced it with my Panny. What little I have seen has been very minor and not distracting at all.

Oh man this is depressing but fun. If you keep this up guys, you will be responsible for me spending my whole retirement fund trying to keep up ...

I made a few adjustments with the onboard controls and I'm happy with the whites and blacks. A service tech is coming to the house on July 1 to calibrate everything. There needs to be at least 100 hours of use on the TV before they do this. In the week and a half we've had it, we're probably already close to that. They told me I would notice a difference after the calibration I spent $200 USD for.

I bought a Samsung UE55D7000 last week. The set does have a bit of clouding issues, but none in daylight, and as soon as I light a small lamp sitting behind the TV, I can't say it's noticeable.

I had 2 pair of 3D glasses included. So far I only watched Piranha in 3D, but it looked great. I still have Drive Angry, Saw 3D and Thor to test.

I don't plan on watching 2D content in 3D, but I did a few tests, and I tought the result was much better than I expected. You really get a sense of depth, and still enough detail is retained. I actually found it much better as watching the converted Alice in Wonderland in theaters.

I performed a first calibration, starting with a mix of a few settings I found on AVSForum, and then used the patterns on the Ratatouille BD to tweak them. I suppose it will take some more tweaking after using it a couple of weeks. But so far I've been very happy with my purchase.
