I recently got a Nexus 5 with Kit Kat 4.4.2 and the Android App won't display any cover art.  I've tried creating new databases and every time the initial sync with DVDProfiler Online appears to download the cover art but no art is displayed when viewing the collection.

Has anyone else had this issue or found a way to fix the problem?

Have you tried rebuilding the thumbnails under settings>Hi-res thumbnails?  If you "de-select", you are prompted to rebuild thumbnails. Re-select, same prompt, pict yes and see what happens.

I have no direct experience.

I sync with my PC and covers have never been an option in my experience.

Thanks Fingerlakes Dave.  Yes, I've tried a rebuild and the issue still persists.  New additions also show no cover art when downloading updates from online.  Images show up fine on other devices with older versions of Android OS.  I'm starting to wonder if there is an issue between the app and 4.4.2.  The device came with 4.4.2 so there's no prior DVDP database prior to 4.4.2 on the device.

Did you upgrade to 4.4.2 or did the device come with it?  What update method are you using; local, DVDProfiler Online, or PC? Thanks.

Discovered the issue although there is no easy fix.

On my Asus Transformer Infinity (4.2.1) the profiles and images are stored, at the parent level, in the following folders:

/sdcard/Invelos/DVD Profiler/LocalData_0/Profiles/
/sdcard/Invelos/DVD Profiler/LocalData_0/Images/

Looking at the file directory on my Nexus 5 (4.4.2) these locations exist but both of those locations also have sub folders such as:

/01/
/02/
/03/

etc.

The one main difference is that the profiles are arranged solely under these subfolders (i.e. /01/, etc.)  However, all of the images are stored under:

/sdcard/Invelos/DVD Profiler/LocalData_0/Images/

and the subfolders (/01/, /02/, etc) are all blank.  If I manually copy the files starting with 01* to the /01/ subfolder, the files starting with 02* to the /02/ subfolder, etc. then the images will display in the app.

But this isn't a long term solution and appears to be some issue with the app and/or interaction with the hardware.

Hi.
Since all my experience is with Gingerbread, this is all I can give insight for: there are no subfolders in Gingerbread. Just the images. I am also not running "vanilla" Android. I have an HTC phone with Sense UI skin.
I know you can copy the cover thumbnail directory from your PC to your SD card, I used to do it for a 3rd party Android program before Invelos had an app out.
Two ways to do: pull you SD card and put it in you PC's card reader, copy all thumbnails from the DVD Profiler Thumbnail Directory to the images directory of your phone. ( C:\Users\XXX\Documents\DVD Profiler\Databases\Default\Images\Thumbnails to /sdcard/Invelos/DVD Profiler/LocalData_0/Images/ )

The second way would be to put you phone in disk mode, find the Invelos folder, find images, and proceed as above. I wouldn't bother with the subdirectories until you find out if they are necessary or not.

Once the thumbnails have transferred, exit the program and relaunch. I you have cover art, problem solved.
If not someone fluent in KitKat will have to take a shot at this

Good Luck!

I have a Nexus 7 2012 and the update was pushed to my device from Google.  I also updated my DVD Profiler by syncing it with my PC version. I do however own the unlimited license on the PC version. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Please check what happens if you uninstall DVDProfiler on your device (and manually remove the database folder if necessary) and reinstall it again.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Same behavior as before.  I've try uninstalling and manually deleting several different ways with no sucess.  Database updates seem to store the images at the parent level so manually moving images is only a temp solution as it would have to be done for each new profile downloaded.

I just got a New HTC One and most of my covers did sync but about 1/3 did NOT.  Not sure why will try to uninstall and reinstall data base.

Uninstalled DVDP on the android and reinstalled and re-sync'd.  All covers are now there and all appears to be good.  This is a much faster device than my HTC Inspire.

I started having the same issue recently with just a few covers missing on my Motorola Droid Maxx, which is running Android 4.4 (kit kat). I uninstalled/reinstalled the app, re-synched the database with my PC database, and the problem is now worse -- I now have even fewer covers showing, probably only about 25%. If I change the setting for high-res thumbnails, it shows it is rebuilding 1281 thumbnails, while I have only 1215 titles in my database.

I decided to uninstall/re-install one more time, and now I can get teh database copied from my PC to the phone, but none of the cover art synchs. The update just hangs once it starts to copy the images. Something is definitely broken.

I was finally able to get all the photos transferred by uninstalling / reinstalling one more time, and then setting the image file size to unlimited. However, when updating the database now it will not copy any new image files. The updates from the phone to the PC occur fine, as does the profile updates from the PC to the phone. Once the update process gets to the image update phase, though, the update just hangs and eventually the PC drops the connection.

If I manually copy the image thumbnail from my PC to the proper folder on the phone, the image does display. So the problem is not with viewing the cover art, but with the update/transfer process.

Well, this thread doesn't seem to have much interest, but I thought I would post that I found a solution to the issue in case there is anyone out there who cares.

I had to set both front and back images to "on" and max size to "unlimited" under "more options" on the update database screen. I had it set to only the front images when it stopped working. Switching back to copying both front and back cover images seemed to fix this for me, even though I do not display any back images in the view I use.

Seems like you should be able to send only front cover art if that is an option, but the update would just hang at the point when it tries to send the cover images and then would eventually timeout.
