I've got a 4th gen (20 GB) that does photos (no videos) running 1.2.1 software. I can get everything to import to the IPod just fine, except for the cover art. The title bar has xxxxx.jpg (x's are various numbers) but it only displays three characters that are symbols and not letters/numbers.

It's not a big problem as I just needed thsi to help me out when goign to buy DVD's and forgetting what I actually owned, but I am curious if anyone else has gotten the cover art to display on a 4th gen Ipod?

Hi Dnelms,

Sorry to hear that you're having problems with the cover art. In Apple's notes feature guide it says that jpeg files are only supported on 5th gen, so I'm not sure I can be much help. Sounds like it's close though. The title bar should have xxxxxF.jpg, this is just the UPC number of the front cover image, so it sounds like the link is pointing to the right file, it's just that the Ipod is not displaying it.

Somebody else was having problems with displaying the cover art on the next gen Classic, so it sounds like this is a really narrow window for this to work. If you reload with the "Display Covers" unchecked, you will be able to get more titles into each file. You will have to manual delete all the cover art from the "Covers" folder if you want to clean that up.

I was just going to report that it's not recognized...

Maybe once Apple releases the Developer SDK the thing will be opened up slightly to allow access through the plugin...? Guess we'll have to wait and see?

To be sure: I sure would like to see the ipod touch supported too!

I plan on getting one of those newer iPhones within a month so when they release their SDK, I'll be taking a look into it.

Didn't seem to work for me either so I've started down another branch and am modifying the RSS export for phpDVDProfiler to optimize for the iPhone.

Sorry about that, I don't have an Iphone/Itouch yet so don't know what would be a good look for it. The notes sections, (which this current version supports) is completely different on the Iphone. I'm hoping that once Apple releases an SDK it will be good enough to allow me the things I really would like to do.

Somebody else was also complaining about the pictures not showing up. The only thing that I can suggest to try is to increase the quality of the thumbnail images and try loading them again.

To increase the quality, you will have to edit the registry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Invelos Software\DVD Profiler and add a DWORD called ThumbQuality if it doesn't already exist. Change the value to 100 (decimal) and then rebuild your thumbnails. Then re-export your collection to your ipod and see if that helps.

On a side note, Apple has released it's SDK for the Iphone/Itouch, in beta of course. Problem is I don't have a MAC, but seriously thinking of getting one now. Just curious of the interest people would have on this.

I'll try to get my hands on a Ipod classic and see if there isn't something that I can do. Problem is, that it's pretty straight forward, a couple of html tags and jpeg files.
