How about offering to bankroll Invelos when it started up? That would explain a lot. | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

How about offering to bankroll Invelos when it started up? Make no mistake, I didn't mean to come across as a wise guy or snarky. I would prefer it if we were treated as equals. I would prefer a disciplinary system that has some weight behind it and treats everyone as equals. But we've been asking for years and haven't gotten very far. But I'm 100% serious and not trying to be sarcastic when I say I would like to know who is special, who isn't and where the line is drawn. I think an admission like that would certainly drive away some people, but the rest of us would at least know where we stand and could put the blocking feature to much better use. That would be a far better situation (though not ideal) than the mystery we have today. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. I and others who feel the same why I do, are not asking for any one person (Skip) to be permanently banned. What we are asking for is very simple, a sliding scale of severity when it comes to moderated disciplinary action.
Moderated post = 1st warning = verbal warning and 30 day probationary period 2nd moderated post in probationary period = 24 hour ban and 60 day probationary period 3rd moderated post in probationary period = 72 hour ban and 90 probationary period 4th moderated post in probationary period = 7 day ban and 6 month probationary period 5th moderated post in probationary period = 30 day ban and 1 year probationary period and final warning 6th moderated in probationary period results in permanent ban.
This isn't rocket science and it leaves it up to each individual user how far in the disciplinary process they venture.
I think we are all in agreement that if a person reaches level 6, then they brought it upon themselves. | | | Unfortunately, I can't use DVDprofiler at the moment due to lack of a Windows computer. |

| Posted: | | | | Count me in as being terribly, terribly disappointed about the level of moderation and the apparent lack of consequenses for consistent obnoxious behaviour. The entire community is clearly sick and tired of the situation, lots of (very!) valuable users have been driven away, and even to this day, the way valuable users who've done absolutely nothing wrong ( this example springs to mind) are being treated is truly a disgrace. It baffles the mind that despite the frequent outcry for action, nothing seems to happen. You'd think since these forums actually serve as the world's worst piece of advertising imaginable (DVD Profiler is a wonderful product, but just look around the net: the horrible forum situation has turned us into a laughing stock), Invelos would be keen to try to turn things around... | | | Last edited: by T!M |

If Ken was fair, then we would have, about 6 users and you would not be one of them. You have no ideas and in my book Ken has been far too lenient with a subset of users. Even to the point of restoring an avatar which was nothing more than harassment of another user. Bottom line; reputation system or not,all Rules have gonne out the window, as he tries to appease that subset.
and....
What is amusing is the people who have used avatars in a harassing manner, some of the most vopcal about controlling and/or banning a certain user, but believe they are allowed to say or do anything they wish, while trying to control the speech of others, so in that regard the Soviet flag background is quite an appropriate use for THOSE users, it does not speak well of them but it does graphically display their desire to insult others and control speech. In regards to your first comment... there you go elevating yourself to a lofty perch once again, even going so far as to divide us all into a class system!! I'm sure you consider yourself among the select few royalty here in the Invelos kingdom whist you look down your nose at the rest of us mere peons... On your second point, you are the absolute LAST person who should be commenting about people attempting to control the speech of others.... does this ring any bells? Quote: So what makes you think you have any sort of clue about me,
A choice selection from some 17,000+ forum posts gave me some clues.
Your theory that the multitude of repeated product requests from the users and the resulting 'headaches' that would occur should he go forth and develop them is absurd. It's from forums like these where most programmers get their ideas, inspiration and motivation from. Would you, or Ken for that matter, rather see the users saying that his current product was inferior and would not lend itself well to other formats? You act as though you'd like to govern, limit, censor or outright remove any forum content that you think may be irritating to Ken in the hope that if we don't talk about it he then might develop the products we crave. lol You do have an ego, don't you?
Of course the forums are chaotic... show me one that isn't. Would you expect anything less when dealing with a product as immensely popular as this one? If you have deluded yourself to think that you might somehow put a handle on it you are just setting yourself up for disappointment.
The constant hounding for improvements, innovations and product expansion from the loyal subscription base is not abnormal and the nature of the business. At times I'm sure it is stressful and tiresome to him but I'm sure Ken realizes this perfectly well and he's dealing with it just fine.... much better than you are may I suggest?
KC After sending you that message I never heard boo from you again. It's funny how when you choose to characterize your foes you so aptly describe your own behavior. Every one of your rants usually includes 'Ken would do this..' and 'Ken is thinking that...', Ken Ken Ken Ken... like by evoking his name you're quoting scripture and we should all defer because of it. Trying to attach your ideas and comments to the boss by throwing his name around doesn't buy you any credibility. In fact it's kind of embarrassing... most certainly for Ken and it should be for you too. KC | | | "Man who goes through airport turnstile sideways is going to Bangkok."

Like bad behavior being accepted on these forums, this is something that I had accepted thus far, but I don't think I care to any longer. I used to be a rather active member here. however, the above reflects my observation as well which lead me to reduce my post quantity and reading the threads way more selectively (often reduced to just looking at cats and dogs). What gets to me now and again is the "Wasn't me attitude" in regards to the atmosphere here (it is present in this thread as well). Treating each other polite without ironic or sarcastic snide comments goes a long way. Most users choose to apolgize when their behaviour is pointed out, not all do. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |

Achim should I provide you with a list of users rthat have ledft because the behavior of your little group. I promise you it is far longer than you continue to try and put at my feet.

Treating each other polite without ironic or sarcastic snide comments goes a long way. Most users choose to apolgize when their behaviour is pointed out, not all do. Wow, I must be far more powerful than i ever imagined. Achim, I suggest that you and Taro both look elsewhere for your BULLY. For Taro, did i ever start a I am leaving because of the big mean bully...no I did not. And the purpose of that thread besides being insulting and bullying in it's own right was what exactly. Have i ever refeerred to any one as a bully, no I haven't, because that isa useless proposition . But there are bullies here, they don't operate solo, they operate in a group and they do so maliciously. Poor Taro, so abused and picked on. The behavior here continues to be OUTRAGEOUS beyond belief and Ken tolerating it only makes it the more so. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

When you take on one of these "bullies" you don't pull punches. You can be quite vicious in your defensive attacks, and other people respond to reading these things and they seem like overreactions on your part. I cannot imagine any conspiracy that you suggest. I mean what would be the motive, let alone the means? I agree that the avatar changes were aimed at mocking you. But you've claimed to be able to laugh at yourself. Now may be the time to rest and allow the morning to help you find that sense of humor back. Good night. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.
