| Posted: | | | | Now I am confused? You name the link CastCrewCheck and it leads to BirthYearCheck?
But as far as I understood the descriptions of the several versions/updates: Your tool compares the existing local data with Kluge's list, am I right?
As mentioned before: As the list is living and growing, I am quite sure, you include a copy of Kluge's list anywhere in the tool or is it anyhow "connected" with that site? http://www.luigifilocamo.it/BY.html
But in both cases: That's not my "problem". A lot of users are not interested in separating people in the database by their accepted BYs or they don't care or maybe sometimes they don't have the time to control every single name of a complete TV Series, if it possibly needs a BY.
So this way countless profiles are actually missing the BY or have the wrong. That's what I am actually correcting. Sooner or later (easier said "later") all my profiles will have the correct BYs (and countless more I have to ask for acception when I am done). But then I buy a new DVD/BluRay and get the full data profile created by someone else. Without any BY. E. g. the casts lists an actor "John Abbott" w/o BY. So I start the tool on that new profile and it says: "Be careful, you allready have "John Abbott" WITH BY. Check, if this is the same!"
For me it looks that the BirthYearCheck compares the whole actors list of the local database with Kluge's list. I'd like to say that I am not the only one who has some more BYs not neccessary for everybody or not proved yet or whatever. And at least in that case, the tool can't tell me to control, if this cast/crew is the same as the one with the same name (and BY) allready part of my local database.
I only can hope that this was not too complicated to understand ;-) |

| Posted: | | | | The birth year list is loaded from the internet every time the program is started, so it is not static. But I guess that's not quite what you wanted. That's all I have though. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | I have been working on CCCreator since the start of this discussion. It is a lot of work because I am not smart and i have a lot of family things on my plate. I will be releasing a preview video soon. I am also happy to work with Gunnar to move some of my plugin internals to HTTPJolie in case he wants to make a "supertool" that blends both concepts into his tool. | | | Thanks for your support. | Posted: | | | | Okay, to both of you:
Thanks for all the work and the time you invest in my project
And: Sorry if I come up with new wishes/requests. They're mostly caused by (bad) experiences with existing data or with the lack of functions on profiler itself. Sorry!
It's only the thought: When I am done correcting all the data, I try to avoid that any new profiles could deliver incorrect data, destroying the work of months |

| Posted: | | | | Wow! Correcting data sometimes is kind of a VERY horrible experience....
I just spent more than an hour to control all versions of "Robert Lee" - and had to find out that about 80 % of the entries in any profile are using the one with the wrong BY (dangerous business if there are 8 BYs available). So far this might have been the worst name to correct - but it always could become worse...^^ |

| Posted: | | | | At the rate you are going, most of the goodies in my tool might be useless by the time I am done, but I'll plod along anyway. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. | | | Last edited: by mediadogg |

| Posted: | | | | I finally have something kind of stable. I just don't know whether it is useful for anything. There are still some ideas I have, and there is no documentation yet. But before i spend a lot more time on it, I will make a video (tomorrow) and walk through it to give you an idea. If I am on the right track, I will continue, and if you want this preliminary version, you can have it. If I missed the mark and it is possible to fix, then I will need your guidance. On the other hand, if I have totally blown it, I will just add it to the pile of glossy but useless plugin doorstops I have on my hard drive. | | | Thanks for your support. | Posted: | | | | I am kid of speechless.... for me that's a wonderful and exciting start of the day! Wow! So far I only got two questions, maybe missing in your explanation or I didn't understand: Is there created a new dummy profile whenever the tool is started to create 0-BYs? So e. g. 5 starts, 5 dummys? All the possibilities of this tool look extraordinary great! But I am not able to understand, why the newly created cast & crew got headshots? Do you copy any actor/crew completely, only letting the BY field free? It is not bad but confusing: We have the same thing for several names in the Headshots Masterdatabase, where a name with BY has the same foto as without. And as this simply can't be the same person, leeting the headshot free would make more sence. All in all I am not able to find the right words how thankful I am! And I am excited to "play" with that! Wow! |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks to you both. Makes my day. I slept late this morning, so I will prepare the uploads soon.
And Magmadrag as I have said before, I sometimes don't understand all the nuances of the credits metadata collection. So I might not be able to answer all your questions. I will mostly make changes to the program and do what you tell me makes sense. But, as I am just getting started on my day, let me read your questions again and give you the best answers a bit later, and also I will post links to the (unfinished) software. | | | Thanks for your support. | Posted: | | | | Ok, here is the unfinished code that I'm sure still have plenty of bugs. It does write stuff to the database, so of course you absolutely have backups in place. Everything is here.(1) First install DVDPFauxAPI 1.4 (2) Then create folder "SubPlugins" right next to the "Plugins" folder in the DVD Profiler execution path (3) Copy CCCreator.dll into the SubPlugins folder Start DVD Profiler and you should see messages saying that the sub plugin was found and loaded. Then run the menu Tools>Create Cast and Crew Yeah, I know the menu name is backwards. Anyway have fun and keep me posted on bugs and desired changes and new features. | | | Thanks for your support.
