I am sorry wanting people "beaten publicly" as James has edscribed with his notation system so that everyone knows, is lobbying for blood. He wants his target flogged, stoned and put in the stocks for ALL to see. I am opposed to banning, publicly or privately but I would like to see James' reaction if hew ere to be banned, and by his standards he should have been...long ago, and he were publicly pilloried. In fact that might be an excellent idea for those who wish to make this a bloodsport, let them be the first to experience it and let's see how they then feel about the concept.
See, this is a perfect example of one of the bigger issues. All he was asking for was transparency and you immediately accuse him of lusting for blood. Transparency? Hardly. Would that you would grant me the same kind of leniency you are willing to give james. but with me you assume the worst.. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

You're on. Although given your previous exceedingly hostile behavior I am skeptical, we shall see.
If you are as good as your word then kudos to you.
One major difference between you and me is that while you reject my offer, I will only too happily accept yours. I mean this with the utmost respect. but think about that. For a little bit now my offer has been out there, and indeed picked up by some. You reject my offer but make a counter and who is the FIRST one to pick up on yours. I think, given the chance, you find that you have grossly misjudged me. I look forward to it. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

Would that you would grant me the same kind of leniency you are willing to give james. but with me you assume the worst.. I'm confused. This has nothing to do with 'leniency' I may give. You claimed James was out for Blood, which I simply cannot see. Like I asked, please show it because he said nothing of the sort. This is what he said: Quote:
I would like to see a note or symbol displayed to show that a user has been suspended or banned so that it would be communicated to everyone. Bloodlust here? Nope. Quote: I've seen it on other forums. Invelos doesn't want to do that however. Nothing here either. Quote: But even in the absence of that, when moderated users drop out of the forums, it's noticeable and the atmosphere improves. Nada. Quote: If Invelos would get to the temp ban stage a little more quickly, things would improve in my opinion. Zilch. Quote: If they aren't private then I don't know where they are. Nope, 0 for 5. If you want to encourage the attacked users that things will get better and to stick around, they have to be able to perceive somehow that moderation will better things soon. This is a very much a key problem, indeed - something that Invelos definitely needs to consider. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | DoubleDown: Again therein lies the problem, you don't see the blood lust, granted. I DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And from your viewpoint if you don't see it then it does not exist. Fascinating that i can see your viewpoint isn't it, but you can't see amother point of view. Also fascinating that I remain the only person who has taken up Kinky on his offer. I think this begins to speak to who it is who is actually interested in resolving this matter and exactly who the users are who want to continue down the same dark road. I am shocked at just how loud this is, I am not surprised, I have alwasys known the answer, but I am shocked. But we will see. I for one am looking forward to it kinky. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! You said you don't hold grudges, but the only way one could arrive at your viewpoint was to have some preconceived notion about his intent. Even still that would be a quite a jump to get there... I also like how you try to turn it around on me, and make it look like it's my issue for failing to see something that isn't there. If there is something, anything, from his post that would support your opinion please let me know because I'm at a loss how you could arrive at your conclusion. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

You're on. Although given your previous exceedingly hostile behavior I am skeptical, we shall see. You say no one has taken Kinky up on his offer, and yet you state above that you are skeptical because of his previously (supposedly) hostile behaviour. In all honestly it doesn't require everyone to say "Yes Kinky, I am with you" to actually agree with him. I'm positive he got enough greenies for his post without everyone stating the obvious. Also, most of us actually don't need to state that we're going to change our behaviour - because our behaviour isn't the problem. I think Kinky's post are excellent, Intelligent and well thought out - and, even more importantly, don't resort to name calling. How you can call someone a cretin in one post and then attempt to shame everyone for not replying to his posts is beyond me. 10 years of this rubbish...is it any wonder that most of the time I stay away from this stupid place!? To end: I totally agree with Kinky. I have every intention of doing what he suggests from now on. My vow, to myself, is that after this post I will not post anything which defends another user or points out someone's shortcomings. I will simply Red Arrow the offensive post and move on. I will not engage in any kind of thread in which negativity is involved. So, given that this IS to be my last potentially confrontational or controversial post I will post how I really feel....I think you're a nasty person, Skip, who simply wants everyone to kneel at your feet and worship you as the god of all-things-Profiler. You demand action from others but fail to follow your own set of demands. Our recent PM conversation showed me that you seem to think you are the most important person using this program; and that everyone should be at your beck and call. Well, you're not. You are nothing; a nobody and I am totally sick to death of every word of yours that I read. What gets me is that there are many people on these boards who, despite their disagreements, manage to maintain a good, friendly, working relationship. You on the other hand persistently antagonize and bait everyone. Feel free to reply to this post with your usual bout of name-calling and devilry. I won't reply. I have no intention of ever engaging you in conversation again. You are, quite simply, not worth the time or effort. Until now there have only been two people in this forum that I have actively gone out of my way to avoid talking to (one is completely mental IMO and the other is a total hypocrite and liar) and only one of them is on my Blocked list. Now there are three. |

| Posted: | | | | Silence means NOTHING, Neill. I have accepted his offer, plain and simple, has DoubleDown, have you (academic and rhetorical, I know that answer, old friend) have the others, has rick. Silemce and green arrows means positively nothing. If you want to improve the forums then say so or are some of us too locked into our hostility and hatred, to do anything more than give lip service and complain about the conditions in the Forums. while all the time there is an obvious agenda as klaid out repeatedly in this thread and others similar in nature. I am not liocked into any hostility or hatred, based on the past, skeptical yes. I offered my hand, Neill and he told me he wasn't interested, that says a lot to me. Then he offers a counter and i immediately accept and no one else has, in essence because of his past comments and what he said to me about offering my hand, I am calling his bluff, I am serious about improving the forums, always have been., we shall see, shan't we. I don't know why your hackles are up Neill, there is no need for it. And I will thank you to keep YOUR own nasty attitude to YOURSELF. Big ONE. I overlooked that comment initially, I wish I hadn't seen it. The nasty person is YOU.. Surprise Neill, take Kinky up on his offer if you dare. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! | Posted: | | | | Righhttt, After Gerri tried to make a statement on moderating, this thread got hijacked into bickering somewhere at the end of page 1. One day and many pages later, it has been a long time since anything on the moderation itself was added. I think there is little wrong with the rules in the OP. That said, I myself feel to add my support to the calls for a bit more transparency, if only that the active community *knows* moderation is active too. Everybody has seen the various "where are the moderators" statements in many threads, so the need to know is real. As for vows, I rarely do that. Perhaps on wedding day, but apart from that... Didn't Ken and Gerri already stated something about behaving nicely when you post in the forums? As for that, there are some 6 pages with many posts deserving a red arrow. Is there a place to purchase these in bulk ? Seriously, we should stay on topic or have this thread locked, IMHO. | | | Eric
If it is important, say it. Otherwise, let silence speak. |

I will NOT lay down for them, if you want to ban me so be it, but you damn well better take out a whole bunch and I will provide a list if I have to. I hardly think that Gerri is going to start giving bans based on your lists |

| Posted: | | | | First post in this thread and I'll keep it on topic:
I value the effort Invelos puts into making clear rules and now has added clear moderation policy. I think both the rules and policy are fair, provided of course this is applied equally and indiscriminately to all members (this, time will tell). But I think it's a good starting point and every forum needs moderation in a correct and fair way in order to create a healthy atmosphere, I believe.
The only thing I would add, but that's a personal opinion, is making it transparent when a member is banned. A lot of other forums do this too and making this publicly known seems to be helpful in steering those members in the right direction again (be it by shame, or because they know others know they didn't take a break but were forced to take one). But again, that's only my personal opinion.
So I'm personally grateful for the steps that have been taken and I'm looking forward to its correct implementation henceforth. | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies |
