| Posted: | | | | Actually it is a little bit confusing: I am typing cast & crew of a czechoslowakian tv series. And this language has special letters. But if I add the data exactly es credited, some letters remain, some are changed to their "non-czech" version.
Example: Ž remains Ž ř is modified to r
Is there any list available, which letters can be used and which not? As it is work to copy those special letters out of Wikipedia (as I don't have them on my keyboard), I would avoid the ones not available for profiler and save up time.
I just recognized an additional problem which makes work horribly difficult: The first two episodes have exactly the same cast. So why not "copy all cast" and then "paste & apend"? Well, it doesn't work: Altough in the first episode the actors exist with those special letters, their copy looks different, new actors are created with a different spelling!

| Posted: | | | | I have a Character Map tool on my desktop computer. It has every special letter combo. However, some of these will default to the "non-Czech" version, like your ř example will default to r in Profiler. You don't have to worry about your additional problem. When you're editing a profile, the work will show as Veronika _ilková, but when you're viewing it in the main Profiler screen and in contributions, it will show as Veronika Žilková. My most common example is Željko Ivanek. When I'm editing a profile, his name shows as |eljko Ivanek. But when I'm viewing the main profile or in my contribution screen (not editing it or anything), it shows as Željko Ivanek. Hope this helps. | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! |

| Posted: | | | | DVD Profiler uses code page Windows-1252 for its XML export and I believe for its internal database. If you use a method that does not support that code page, characters can get transformed. UTF-8 has evolved to become the modern global standard, but as we know DVD Profiler is unlikely to be upgraded to match. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. | Posted: | | | | Well, like mentioned in the initial post: I only used profiler. After entering all the data for Episode 1, I recognized that it is absolutely the same for all others. So usually I don't need to type the same data several times. Ep. 1 is typed, so I use right click "copy all cast" and then "paste and apend cast". So in all my logical understanding it is simply impossible that profiler copies an A and makes it a B. But it replaces letters, available in Episode 1 with an _ for all further episodes, and this I can't get out. Obviously this is a bug not recognized before by anybody |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting Magmadrag: Quote: But it replaces letters, available in Episode 1 with an _ for all further episodes, and this I can't get out. Text encoding is like this: Quote: Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam: Do you know of the Water of Life? The bile of the newborn worms of Arrakis?
Paul Atreides: I have heard of it.
Reverend Mother:It is very dangerous and deadly. The Bene Gesserit women who drink it use it to see from within. There is a place...terrifying to us...to women. It is said...a man will come...the Kwisatz Haderach. He will go where we cannot. Many men have tried.
Paul: They tried and failed?
Reverend Mother:They tried and died. Others fail just as badly: ã is actually ã ¼ is ¼ The latter one obviously has no place in a street name. The original address was "Schlüterstrasse" but ü encoded in HTML would be ü so more seems to have gone wrong Original source: German IT blogger Fefe | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online
