I bought myself a Christmas present-a Sony BDP-S185/BX18. The reviews were more positive than not and it was in my price range.

Got it plugged in, ready to go, popped in the first movie and noticed right away the picture was not set up right. Especially the menus, but the rest of the picture as well, extends off the screen like I'm watching a P&S or full frame rather than the widescreen I have it set up as. It's hooked up to a Sony Bravia widescreen TV, so there should be no problem.

I've gone through the set-up and everything looks like it's configured correctly.

Any idea what's wrong? The picture is pretty good and I like everything else about it, but this is driving me nuts trying to figure out what's not set properly! Oh, in case it was the movie, I watched Dinosaurs.

Sony Bravia widescreen, it's about 2 1/2 years old. HD, um, I'm think it's LED.

Player is hooked up through a HDMI cord.

Based on the model number you provided, ensure the following options are selected on your BD Player:

Under Screen Settings
- TV Type : 16:9*
- Screen Format: Original*
- DVD Aspect Ratio: Letterbox*

* Note: These are the default settings so unless you changed them they should already be set to these values.

Can you provide the model number for the television you have as it would help in providing specific options?

You may also want to check to see if your television has an overscan option; if so make sure it's set appropriately (there should be a 1:1 pixel option or something similar).
