| Posted: | | | | I have fairly restrictive privacy on my Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone, and to date have had no need to purchase any apps from the Google Play store. I would prefer to keep 3rd parties such as Google well away from my credit card information. I have no need or interest in social media or networking and keep this off all my pcs and smart phone.
I have looked through the 2 Android forums here but may have missed a post covering the following:
Is it possible to purchase or subscribe to this app outside of the Google Play store. I am happy to purchase and pay via PayPal.
I currently have security software and apps installed on my pcs and smartphone and paid for this direct via PayPal. A subscription code was issued for each device and in the case of my smart phone, entered into the 'trail-ware' version of the app which unlocked the app.and made it a full version.
I had hoped when this app was developed, that it may become fully subscription based on a trial version,. I would even pay for an annual subscription of my desktop version if it would mean that Invelos continued with the development of it and kept it maintained and up to date. | | | Veni, Vidi, Visa, Vista, Voodoo, Vino I came, I saw, I bought, I installed Vista, I'm now haunted, I need wine

Your other option is always the Amazon app store in your country, if it is on sale there. ?? I guess I gave up being THAT locked up on privacy years ago. I belong to no social networks and the Google store for the apps, and some music, I buy. Since my credit card in on file encrypted, etc. I have no problem with it being there. I have MAJOR misgivings regarding PayPal as they are unregulated. I have had too many issues in the past to trust them. I don't need the headaches. |

| Posted: | | | | I like the idea of distrusting Google (for local storage of payment data) but happily using the E-Bay banking system which is under permanent hacker and/or phishing attack.
Makes no sense at all, really.
Back to your original question: The app is available in the Amazon-App Store too. I'm not sure though, if it can be sold to localities outside of the country of the chosen Amazon store (similar to e.g. MP3 or other electronic media). | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

As a former banker with years of experience in fraud investigation, I have far more faith in PayPal, which I have been using for 10 years without any security issues, than in google which wants absolutely every bit of information possible while spruiking their company motto ".. don't be evil"....for me that makes perfect sense. No system is absolutely safe however, but I do trust my instincts and my knowledge to make everything as secure as possible. Quoting Lewis_Prothero: Quote:

About 10 mins after my original post I found a link which matched your suggestion. I have now downloaded the Invelos app from the Amazon app store. Paid for it with a pre-paid credit card. That took me 10 mins max to d/load amazon app, configue and d/load Invelos app. Easy as... Ta da! Thank you one and all for your replies. | | | Veni, Vidi, Visa, Vista, Voodoo, Vino I came, I saw, I bought, I installed Vista, I'm now haunted, I need wine

PayPal is about as unregulated as google, facebook et al. When reading through the ToCs of google play store, it nearly gave me a migraine headache. Anyway, as mentioned in my previous post, I found I could purchase it with a pre-paid credit card through Amazon Apps store. I believe you need an actual credit card for google play store as they reject prepaid credit cards. I use my real credit card for real world purchases and make do with a pre-paid cc for online purchases. | | | Veni, Vidi, Visa, Vista, Voodoo, Vino I came, I saw, I bought, I installed Vista, I'm now haunted, I need wine

That's how I'm doing it as well, with one minor exception (Amazon purchases). | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?
