Need more notes fields? Bugged out that you need to cram everything in one notes field?

Need an additional overview field for your mother tongue?

Enhanced Notes gives you not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, ... err ... actually exactly five more notes fields you can name however you like them and store both plain text as well as HTML content in them.

Download here.

Hey DJ Doena,

I've installed your plugin and have created two new notes"Room" and "Shelf" to record the location of the physical disc.

My question is, how do I get that info into a report?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Hello, not to tread on DJ's turf, but I do notice that you are recently registered and might not be aware of the Location and Slot fields in the Profile.

That being said, I will leave it to DJ to elaborate on your original question. Good luck and welcome to the community.

Thanks for the reply.

I did see the Location and Slot fields, but was not 100% sure what they were for. They seem more geared toward disk changers or binders...

I have a bunch of shelves with DVDs and Blu-Rays still in their cases (like library books).

If Location and Slot will work for my situation that would be great. I will check it out.

Would still be interested in if I can get said Extended Notes fields into a report though.

Thanks again for the quick reply.

Profiler does not impose any semantics on Location and Slot, except that the UI makes some assumptions about how people intend to use them, in terms of how they are sometimes displayed. However, internally, they are simply text fields. I'm sure there are a lot more people using them for shelves and binders than for disc changers!

Hi,

sorry for the late reply.

Unfortunately there is no way for plugins to appear in reports to the best of my knowledge.

Would there be any value to having a "FauxReport" plugin that:

(1) (Temporarily) Copies data from specific plugin fields to profiler fields,
(2) Runs a specific report whose headings reflect the plugin data content,
(3) Puts the original data back into the profiles?

Oh yeah, I can see the possible dangers. But just throwing an idea out there ...

Other ideas:

If I am not mistaken, custom (plugin) fields are in fact available in HTML sections. Anyone with HTML skills can make a custom display of data, at least at the profile level.

And of course, all custom data is available in the XML export. So, you could use Excel or whatever to make a report if you have those skills.

Thanks mediadogg and DJ Doena for your replies.

I've come up with the option of putting in the info into the notes section. Kind of ham fisted and definitely does not qualify for proper data management, but I think in this instance it will suffice.

Thanks again.

I looked into using "Location" and "Slot" but can't seem to find out how to put them into a report...

Is there a manual or help section for report creation/editing? I've perused the Reports section of the forums but it seems to be mostly people posting about reports they have created...

Thanks

"Reports" are a bit ... un-intuitive to say the least.
Got to the Reports-Download and search for 'location', at a quick glance '5 DVD's per Pg, Most drtails + Location (v 1.2)' looks promising. Download it and look into this one how you get Location/Slot shown. If memory serves it is under Disc-Information or similar.

Both slot and location are easily reported using ProfilerQuery. It doesn't produce as snazzy reports as the report designer in DVD Profiler itself, but it gets the job done.
