| Posted: | | | | This has been touched upon in the past, and the formats are moving thick and fast in the video world, all heading away from disc and toward digital. Is it time for DVD Profiler to add in support for iTunes,?
I know the problem here is the lack of bar codes / content 'ID' and also that there is a 'checkbox' for 'digital', plugins etc.. but we still need a bar code that we don't have for the movie when bought digitally.
iTunes; For example, could have it's own category as it's pretty much it's own media, with 'iTunes' extra's. Sure there will only be front cover art, that can easily be checked on the iTunes store for contributions.
Physical discs are rapidly becoming a thing of the past, many younger people I know are all purchasing their movies and tv series from iTunes, Google and Amazon and not bothering with discs at all. Even I am in the process of 'moving to digital' with a few hundred digital titles all purchased on iTunes.
So why not implement it and have us all uploading contributions now so when discs are truly a thing of the past, we'll already have a filling database for digitally purchased and owned content? |

| Posted: | | | | Thank you. Yes, that was one of the threads I came across whilst searching.. alas, it hasn't changed anything in all this time.
Such a shame, as I've been with DVD Profiler since the very beginning, looks like I/many of us will be having to look for alternatives.
If need be, I'll go back to using spreadsheets if we can't get something along the lines of what you're suggesting going.
I really don't want to see DVD Profiler die out with the discs. | | | Last edited: by nero041001 |

I really don't want to see DVD Profiler die out with the discs. I hear you, but one thing that has changed is that Ken, before the recent hiatus, did put in two major database upgrades that are simply not being used: custom fields and custom profile IDs. With those, you can do anything you want and save it, restore it, sort it, report on it, filter it and use in HTML sections. So why would you prefer a spreadsheet, if the same effort could result in database profiles, albeit not (yet) valid for contributions? | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. | Posted: | | | | As a simple method, I created a tag and a custom media type with an icon. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

Does that allow to upload my collection with my custom profiles, and download to mobile devices too? When I type the name of a movie, that isn't in the database; Stargate Origins: Catherine for example as I bought that on iTunes, I don't think it's had a disc release, it come's up with this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ugv511l26jgnz73/stargate%20origins.JPG?dl=0 Would I do something like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2x87gi8ezn02pju/stargate%20origins%202.JPG?dl=0 ?? I'm pretty tech savvy, and looked for a guide on how to do it, but I've not found anything yet. Thank you for the help so far, and Happy Christmas | | | Last edited: by nero041001 |

| Posted: | | | | Some good questions. Let me play around and see what happens. But I didn't quite follow your example. What is the "it" that you are talking about that comes up with the dropbox.com URL? | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! | Posted: | | | | "it" - Meaning iTunes?
I added a custom format and called it 'iTunes' if that's what you mean?
I might be getting confused now. |

I might be getting confused now. "IT" meaning iTunes ... "D'oh!" of course! Anyways, I created a custom profile and it was uploaded to my Android just fine. Then I uploaded to online, and the custom profile appeared there as well. What's not to love about that!!!! | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. | Posted: | | | | I've had a load of iTunes vouchers for christmas which I asked everyone for, so I've added most as blu's for the time being, some custom with no artwork etc.. I'm going to have a look just how many digital films I've bought from iTunes over the past 6 months ish that I've been buying them and make a start on removing, editing and creating custom profiles for each. That's gonna take a bit of time I can tell you that! |

| Posted: | | | | Any HDX/iTunes copies I buy, I just download the profile (usually the BD or BD/DVD) and just put "Digital" in the edition field. I don't contribute that Edition, of course. | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! |

I don't contribute that Edition, of course. That's not always possible for movies purchased on iTunes.. Stargate Origins: Catherine BECKS Stones ..are a few examples of films that have no physical releases at all, even under different names as some films do. |

| Posted: | | | | Not sure why, but I can't get the front covers to stay for iTunes movies so have a lot of profiles with missing covers... just can't quite see where I'm going wrong.
I'll need to sort this somehow, as I've traded a lot in and catching up a lot in the itunes sales, so my digital library is growing pretty rapidly.
I'd been tempted to move away from dvd profiler for one of the alternatives that support this and exporting to .txt file with title and media type and support digital platforms.. but they are pretty expensive, and although 'prettier', not quite so feature rich as dvd profiler.
Got some long days ahead. |

Not sure exactly how you are doing it, but it is possible that you might need to lock all or part of your profiles. Maybe you are losing stuff when you get a refresh from the Invelos online? | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! | Posted: | | | | Yes, maybe. Quite a pain.
Heh, I'm basically 'adding by title' spelling it wrong, then spelling it correctly when it allows me to create a new profile. I'm not sure if that's the correct procedure for a custom profile, even though I've used the software for years.. first had it on my shiny 'PDA' |

| Posted: | | | | If you want to create an individual profile that's not identified by a EAN/UPC or DiscId, you go to "Add by Title" and then uncheck the checkbox at the bottom called "Download profile from Invelos".
This will create a profile that is not connected to the Invelos central database and won't accidentally update/overwrite any data you might have (including your front covers) | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online
