| Posted: | | | | Hope someone can help me...I hadn't updated my PC collection from my phone for a few months and when I synced all the new titles in my mobile collection did not get added to my PC collection and they were removed from my mobile collection.
After cooling down from the rage, I did a test and added another title to my mobile, verified it was there, synced to the PC and again the new title was not only not in my PC collection but was removed from my mobile collection.
So the approximately 10 hours of work I put in to update my collection on my phone is down the tubes and has to be repeated...any idea what the problem is and if there's a fix? I'd hate to have to find a different collwction software after 20 years of use...i love DVDProfiler, been a user from the beginning, and have never had a problem before...but this is gonna be a deal breaker. |

| Posted: | | | | I think I know what may have happened. I only have the iOS version, but I assume that the Android version is basically the same. In the Update dialog, there is a switch labeled "Send changes". That sounds innocent enough, but what it really means is "If this is off, ignore what's on my phone and just make it the same as what's on my Desktop Profiler". So if you inadvertently turned this off, you would get exactly the behavior that you are seeing. (Note: that switch is only enabled if there have been changes made since the last sync.) That said, I'd like to quote user Lowpro from a thread in the iOS forum: Quote: DVD Profiler for iOS offers a very small feature set. There's also no suitable way to backup/restore the database residing on your iOS device locally. As such, I only use the app to view my collection. Any changes to my database I make exclusively from DVD Profiler for PC, then bringing the change down to DVD Profiler for iOS over my local network. That's pretty much how I do it, too, except I use my iOS Profiler to flag what movies I have watched and what rating I have given them, and upload that. But anything else I do in the Desktop version. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks Gunnar for the possible solution, but unfortunately my send changes option is set to "ON"...i watch it go through the motions of sending changes, and the phone shows that it is successful, but no dice. |

| Posted: | | | | I realize that this is an old discussion, but this happened to me, so I thought I'd comment.
It appears that this problem can be caused by turning off "Allow changes from remote clients" under Tools->Options->Sharing->Change Access.
In an effort to overcome synchronization connection problems, I attempted to turn off the password requirements, and I inadvertently unchecked this box, also. Once I was able to get the update to run, it removed all of the new titles that had been on the Android app.
I then added a title in the app, checked the box in the desktop options, and ran the update. The new title now appears in the desktop collection. |
